Workshop Overview

This forty-hour introduction to friction ridge analysis and comparison workshop is designed for beginning latent or ten-print examiners. The course will provide students with the biological aspect of friction ridge skin, the levels of friction ridge skin detail, and the proper ACE-V methodology.

All hands-on activities will be in the areas of determining pattern types, analyzing unknown prints for comparison sufficiency, basic comparisons between known and unknown prints, documenting all aspects of friction ridge analysis and comparisons using nomenclature standards to the discipline, and discussing forensic ethics and bias in the field of friction ridge skin.

A certificate of completion will be earned. The class will not certify students to begin casework without further training and competency testing.
